Rival Angels

I write. It's what I do. I get an idea for a story, and I write it down, eventually, a story is born. But not every time do I get an idea for a story does the story come about, and the characters whom I had spent so much time and care creating go to waste. What I've decided to do is to convert some of my favorite original creations into Rival Angels fan characters and post their profiles here. Hence the wasting time part: With little actual story to actually put them into, all I have is their profiles. Anyone good at art is more than welcome to draw them if they so desire, just let me see and give credit where it's due if posting said pictures somewhere else.

"The Grim Knight " Katrina Van Zant

The youngest child of wrestling legend Brom Van Zant, Katrina Van Zant always knew that she, too, would step into the squared circle and compete for glory and fame. Trained by her father and her father's friends, she learned from a young age how to wrestle. Growing up in Indiana farm country, she learned the value of hard work on her father's farm with back-breaking chores before and after school and applies that ethic in every match, no matter how insignificant it may seem to her opponent. Early on in her career, despite her legendary ancestry, many doubted she'd go far in the wrestling business, causing her to challenge people bigger and stronger than her to I Quit matches. To her credit, she has never lost an I Quit match, as few of them as she's been involved in. She's never tapped out, either, preferring to faint than admit defeat. Upon making her way to the ring, she stares straight ahead and marches straight for the ring, as a doomed soldier marches to the grave. Her fierce determination and refusal to give in has earned her the nickname "The Grim Knight" from friends and foes alike. She lacks her father's height and build, looking more like her delicate mother than her battle-worn father, but despite these and other setbacks, minor in her mind, she has had many classic bouts and even held Tag Team gold with her brother's wife, who wrestles in a different promotion. She rarely smiles while the cameras are rolling, but off camera, she actually sensitive to other people's emotions and is quick with a smile to try and cheer people up, just like her father. She started her career in a different promotion, one that saw both men and women on the roster, but left when it became apparent that the women weren't allowed to "play with the boys" in the way she was trained to wrestle. She eventually came to Rival Angels after a brief stint as one-half of the Tag Team Champions in a different promotion.

Etzel Van Zant
Hometown: Ligonier, IN

The eldest child of wrestling legend Brom Van Zant, Etzel Van Zant could have followed in his father's footsteps and become a world-famous pro wrestler, but instead decided to enter the wrestling business as his baby sister Katrina's manager.

I have more characters for development and conversion to Rival Angels fan characters, but I'll go insane if I try to post them all in the same night, so I'll post some more later.

Etzel is a cool, big gal! I could see her being pretty successful both as a wrestler and as a manager. And hey, Sabrina's from Indiana too. XD

Etzel is a guy. But yeah, he could be a wrestler. And there's no saying he's not one of my constant CAW's in the WWE video games, but as a Rival Angels fan character, he's his younger sister's manager.

But thank you both. I'll be posting more characters over time. It's just a matter of changing them up here and there from what I originally created them to be into Rival Angels fan characters. Like I said, I don't mind if the artistically gifted want to draw them, that's fine, just give credit where it's due. I don't even mind if they wind up making appearances in the comic,. After all, they are OCs for this story, but that is a tale for another time. I've got no one new to post at the moment, still working on a couple of characters, but within the week, I will have a tag team to post.

Whoops, missed the pronoun there. *d'oh* I think I got caught up in Katrina's rich story and figured Etzel was an extension.

A little bit. Being her manager, where ever Katrina goes while on RA business, Etzel is right there with her.

Morose. Macabre. Mean-spirited. There are many words that accurately describe the sisters Rudd, but the two that work best are 'Identical Twins.' Greta is the one whose hair is dyed blood red and wears black mourning clothes modified for wrestling, Paula is the one whose hair is her natural black and wears red mourning clothes modified for wrestling. If not for these features, none but themselves would be able to tell them apart just by looking at them. Their team name comes from their preferred in-ring attire, although, the serious injuries they have visited on various opponents since joining Rival Angels have caused various officials and competitors to fear for their lives. There's no telling if it's all an act or if they really would kill someone if given the opportunity. Neither likes using submission moves, although both do resort to them just to bring further pain to their opponents. They're similar in a variety of other ways, with one exception: while both show little interest in winning, as many of them as they have under their belts, including being former Tag Team Champions, Greta likes to draw blood from her opponents, while Paula seems content with inflicting horrible pain on her opponents.

And here we now have a new tag team, fan characters at the very least. My next character may very well be posted on Sunday.

Where she came from, few people know. Where and when she trained before coming to Rival Angels, few people know. What she did before becoming a professional wrestler, few people know. These things are closely guarded secrets, and Serenity is not telling a soul. She showed up at developmental one day on the reccomendation of a friend of a trainer. Within the month, time taken to polish some rough spots of her style, she was called up, a feat almost unheard of. In her first match on Rival Angels, she pinned Chloe De Sade, a fitting opponent for one who seemed to have such skill as to be called up in only a month. The next match she fought was a Two-On-One Handicap Match, herself against Chloe De Sade and Jennifer Needles. She won that match, as well. She seems to have had military-grade hand-to-hand combat training as she seems to know just where to lay blows and how to twist limbs to inflict debilitating pain on her opponents. Despite this fact, making her seem unfriendly and inflexible to many, she's actually friendly and high energy, even going so far as to offer a hand getting up to opponents that she's beaten without knocking them senseless. From her explosive debut to the final bell of her most recent victory, the fans have come to love Serenity Keeler.

I like the mysterious big(er) girls here. Serenity has an awesome name and I think the Rudd sisters have a great look. Seriously, if I had the time, I'd definitely do character sketches on these gals.

I like tall women, myself. Nothing wrong with women who are of utterly average height, but there's just something about women who are taller than usual. And yeah, you can only do what you can, but if the time ever frees itself or you're strapped for someone new to pit Sabrina and the others against and can't think of anyone real to base them on, you're more than welcome to use my characters, just remember my one request: Give credit where it's due. Unless you're willing to commision me for my ideas, but that's said in jest. Do you have any money these days? I sure don't have any money these days. Nobody has any money these days. I haven't had a steady flow of money since December 2007, and my extended unemployment benefits end a week after my birthday next month.

Why she still has a job in Rival Angels is anyone's guess, but it seems that she's one the fans love to hate. Her number of wins just barely total enough to give anyone a reason to even consider keeping her around, much less actually doing so. She's a decent wrestler, she could capture a title if she trained hard enough, but she doesn't seem to be concerned with actually winning, less so even than others who show little interest in winning, if she's even concerned with winning at all, as evidenced by her most resounding wins being in matches where she could do anything she wanted, barring murder. She's good at being bad, and the number of fans who boo her easily outnumber those who actually cheer for her. She seems to be a jobber and nothing more.

Igor D. "The Butcher" Miller

Even more perplexing than why Phillippa Morgan still has a job is why she has a manager. And why a manager who is a former World Heavyweight Champion while he wrestled in a particular promotion would represent a person who shows no interest in the business like her is an even greater mystery still. The man who slashed two of his opponents' throats in a Fatal Four-Way match, almost making the word Fatal literal, he only did so just enough to draw blood and put them out of contention to tend to their wounds but they bled a lot more than any thought they would, to steal his first World Heavyweight Championship, he was forced to relinquish it a month later and undergo court-ordered psychiatric evaluations when he doused his opponent in gasoline and set them ablaze in his first title defense match, getting himself disqualified. He was allowed to continue competing under one condition: He would do so under the supervision of the local authorities and if he should ever threaten the life of a fellow competitor in such a way again, he would be permanently and mandatorily retired from active rosters of promotions the world over. Despite winning the championship back a short time later, he found himself recieving his last pay as an active competitor not terribly long after losing it again, though not because he broke the condition, he lived up to that end faithfully. He was in a match for the title he fought so hard to try to regain with a stipulation that cost the loser his job forever. He'd never be a champion again. Many think his mental instability, which is nothing more than a case of mild schizophrenia treated with medication, is the reason he would be seen with someone like Phillippa, while others believe it's because they share a hometown. Others suggest it's because he's actually her maternal uncle. Whatever his reasons, he can't bring himself to leave the wrestling business for good, and since he's not allowed to wrestle anymore, and because the promotion he used to work for won't let him back in any capacity, being a manager is all he has left. On screen, he lives up to the image he built in his days as a champion. Off screen, he's about as sane a person could be expected, offering to train anyone who seems to be in need of learning some new moves or help polishing ones they already use.

I don't think I've ever put more work into the story for a manager than the person they represent, and that includes CAWs in the wrestling video games!

Ah very cool! Brooke could use some more Aussie assistance. XD And Phillippa seems just as skilled.

No worries about giving credit, I've been on the other end too many times to not do that. If I do, you'll be the first one I contact before anything gets going. That being said, I'm really enjoying these. Maybe you or someone else will write some fanfic for the board?
