Well, who could have predicted this? Did I not suggest that, for whatever reason, they'd have Edge and Randy Orton retain? Why, yes. I did. And everyone wanted to believe that some one or the other of them would lose their title. RESULTS!
Edge def. Jeff Hardy (World Heavyweight Title Match)
Like we didn't see that one coming. Matt coming out and costing Jeff the title. It's only the second time Matt cost his brother a title to Edge, but it's already old and super predictable. What's also predictable is that Edge will, as usual, be gloating about it, even though he didn't strike the finishing blow two title matches in a row now. I think there should be a rule stating champions shouldn't be allowed to speak of their victories if they didn't do the work themselves, such as under No Disqualification rules or in a Last Man Standing Match.
Batista def. Randy Orton (Disqualification) (WWE Title Match)
He knew he couldn't beat his opponent in a fair fight, so Orton gets himself disqualified. And on the subject of predictability, Ted DiBiase Jr. and Cody Rhodes were there, to aid in the post match assault on the Animal. What few fans saw coming, however, the return of Ric Flair!
John Cena def. The Big Show
There's probably something to be said for a man who was only hours before cleared to compete going on to defeat a man who weighs 500 lbs. If there is, I'd like to hear it. Match after match at Judgment Day this year turned out to be uber-predictable, and having Cena defeat the Big Show, regardless of how he did it, was one everyone should have seen coming the moment the match was made.
Rey Mysterio def. Chris Jericho (Intercontinental Championship Match)
Of course. And why not? If the two titles that matter in the WWE would later in the night stay put, why shouldn't at least one title match end favorably for the fans? Jericho believes he deserves to be a champion, and he may be right, but he might as well continue to pursue the likes of the World Heavyweight Title. The Intercontinental Title doesn't matter anymore, and he knows it.
Christian def. Jack Swagger (ECW Championship Match)
Even with his skill and size, the All-American American couldn't get the gold (Silver) back. Not surprising, seeing how Christian has so many other title reigns under his belt, whereas in the WWE, Mr. Swagger only has the ECW Title to his credit.
Umaga def. CM Punk
CM Punk's got guts and determination, not to mention a whole lot of skill, but fighting Umaga is just shy of someone of Punk's build fighting the Big Show. Uphill battle and more likely to end in failure than success. And being Mr. Money in the Bank, he needs to be making that decision and prepping for the right time to strike. He didn't waste any time last time he cashed in, so what's stopping him now? Indeed, the best thing to do in such a case is to cash in the night that shot is obtained, just after the winner of the title desired is decided, as Edge has done so many times.
John Morrison def. Shelton Benjamin
Was this really necessary? They've only been squabbling for the past few weeks, so is this feud, which may not even develop into an actual feud, worth time on a PPV? They couldn't have had "Santina" Marella vs. Beth Phoenix, instead?
