I'm back with a quick update.

Wondered how the Lions tour went? Well, the Lions went into the 3 game series against South Africa undefeated after beating their provincial opponents across South Africa.

However, the first test, while close came out in South Africa's favour with England prop Phil Vickery being obliterated at the Scrum by his South African opposite number Beast Mtawaria. However, an incredible comeback by the Lions in the last ten minutes almost stole the show but South Africa did just enough to win 26-21.

The second test will go down in Lions and Rugby folklore are being up there with the greatest. The two teams went at each other hammer & tongs and the hard hitting tone of the game was set thirty seconds in when South African number 6 Schalk Burger was sin binned for 15 minutes after eye-gouging Lions wing Luke Fitzgerald. Burger would later be banned for 8 weeks. The game went back and forth with the Lions scoring a fantastic try though Ireland fullback Rob Kearney. South Africa in the end had the last laugh here, scoring a penalty at the death to make it 28-25 and win the series.

So, if you thought the third and final game was a dead rubber, you were wrong. Today, the two teams re-commenced warfare as if the series was in the balance but this time the Lions were rampant and savaged South Africa in most areas. Watch for Flutey flicking the ball to Shane Williams for his second try in a moment of total genius.

The Lions may have lost the series but they had cemented the whole philosophy for decades to come. See you all next tour when the Lions visit Australia (and perhaps Argentina) in 2013!!!
