Match Analysis: Page by Page

Postby Salazen on Mon Dec 08, 2008 9:09 pm

Please note: This first analysis is not for the entire match, as it should be, but for specific aspects because a posting on the comic was getting WAY long. That said, if anyone would like me to do breakdowns of matches in the comic from a fan perspective, or of real matches for that matter if I can see them, let me know. I was actually asked to be an announcer/commentator for a local fed once by my job at the time prevented it. ;) I do have a clue about this and can do better than I'll do here to prove a point.

Enough small talk! On with the proving of points!

This links back to Episode 148 and the discussion there.

By the numbers:
36: Brooke tried to bring a weapon to the match. Doesn't say much about her confidence in winning fairly, does it?
38: Brooke's power display pose doesn't stop Sabrina from challenging her. And unlike a normal overpower, where the stronger wrestler shoves the weaker half way across the ring, Brook corners her and then doesn't give a clean break.
39: Proof of the cheap shots and Sun takes Brooke out with a single hit. Another cheap shot, sure, but she nailed it and Brooke is on the floor.
40: Sun again, and making it -hurt- now. This shot knocks Brooke out of the match for a full strip. Plus coins Ninka'd in the world as well as the comments.
42: Finally, Brooke looks like a power wrestler. Even Krystin has looked better until now, and I hate how her showing went in this. *sniff*
43: Taken out by Krystin. Some of her best moments here... well, until she gets her solo match against someone and wows everyone!
44: Brooke from behind. Again, she's showing power, but it's against a cruiserweight practically so it's not like any of the others couldn't have pulled this off also. Still, she did hit hard, yes.
46: This is -not- a page to brag on Brooke for. Look at Panel 1. If Brooke had been on her feet faster, Sun would have probably won the match here. She took out everyone that was standing. Brooke was still getting up. It's the only reason she got an advantage.
47: Brooke -picks Sabrina up- and can't finish it.
49: From behind again. Does she -ever- hit anyone fair in this match?
50: Brooke poses with her pin instead of making it count. No need for a save.
51: A truly good moment for Brooke. Beautiful counter on Sun. Forget Cruiserweight here. Only the stronest get away with that reverse, except against the really tiny. Of course, she again is slammed instantly, but hey.
53: Brooke again looking better than usual. Smart to break up the pin and good assault.
54: Notice how often Sun gets i shots on Brooke? Here's another. And a submission to follow breaking up the pin.
55: Okay... who other than Dustin Rhodes in an Ironman Match can't escape the most basic sleeper type there is? Jawbreaker. Flip over slam. Back 'em into the turnbuckles. Twist and side suplex. The list goes on. Major loss of awesome right there.
56: Brooke misses and put down fast. From how the others are getting near misses and escapes at times, I really think this shows Brooke is weakening faster than anyone else.
58: Credit for getting up first, even though she was also the first one down. Nice move by Brooke. Nothing but praise here.
59: Nice hook up, but Brooke takes too long looking for help. She should have checked once and then dropped Sabrina on her head. Foolish mistake.
60: Look at how Sun snapped when her nose got bloodied. Yeah, it's not at Brooke, but reason for fear maybe? Also,,, sad. Sabrina overpowered as well as out wiggled to get free of that. Poor Brooke.
61: And just to put icing on that cake... the one that should have been most dominate is the one to be pinned.

Overall, Brooke was not the force that a power wrestler should be and Sun was everything a speedy girl like her is meant to be, with a mean streak besides. This match is a perfect example of why Brooke not only is, but should be afraid of Sun.

Excellent breakdowns! I am impressed and I'd love if you broke down the matches on Rival Angels or otherwise. At the heart of it, you nailed it. Brooke is strong and arrogant and not very representational in her power. Sun is everything as advertised.

Definitely have to keep this going on the forums for now on. :D

Thanks for the break down.. Salazen.. now I know why Brooke is scared of Sun.. when Sun tried to attack her and make Brooke to white meat. :D

So seeing Brooke like that.. Do you think Brooke must be fired, coz Brooke was not the force of a power wrestler should be.. and also Brooke just bribe on her way to "Rival Angels" in which she is truly not worthy to be in "Rival Angels"

I was kinda disappointing with Brooke now.. tsk tsk..

Sad, but true...

if Brooke can't wrestle... maybe Brooke can be used an entertanment segment.. like in WWE Santino Marella.. funny segment.. maybe mock the Hell's Belle.. and then got humiliated. or copy "Latina Chick" Loretta Diaz and then got crump.. hahah.. I might change my mind, to make Brooke number 6 on my favorite wrestlers..

and since in the WWE.. Santino uses italian accent.. In Rival Angels Brooke uses Australian accent..

Actually, I'd compare Brooke to Victoria in the WWE. She's got a lot of promise, and could be so much more. I remember when Victoria first came to the WWE, she was unstoppable. Now she's a joke. Brooke could be amazing.

She just needs self confidence and not bravado.

That said... any other matches you'd like to see me Analise?

:P

About Victoria, in WWE.. yeah. do you think is in the WWE script, in which Victoria's now a joke? I mean.. if this wasn't a script script surely Victoria would win against those the likes of Maria and Kelly Kelly.. and another add on, Natalya Neidhart also wasn't giving enough push.. she's the daughter of "Anvil" Jim Neidhard..

but you thing the difference between Brooke and Victoria.. in which Victoria really likes and dedicates herself to wrestle.. not like Brooke, just want to be the star without sacrifices, training and practice..

also Brooke bribe the development league so she can get to pro in which she didn't deserve..

another thing..

I kinda think this thread would be better name.. "Match Analysis: Page By Page.. with Salazen" ehehhe

I wonder if you analyze the next cards in the monday night meltdown.. hehehe...

Salazen, we could give you your own thread if you like, or keep it open for others to jump in, though I think they'd jump in either way. Discussion and debate so to speak. Any of the matches after the Rookie Rumble would be cool. The Catgirls vs Brooke and Krystin, Sun Vs. Sassy Schoolgirl, Sabrina vs Loretta, or Kat vs Monica Rumble. Or the Towers vs Brooke and Sabrina. XD So, yeah, I didn't really narrow it down.

I'm game for it. Here. Separate place. However you'd like to do it. Tomorrow, I'll be on a much faster connection for a while too, so it doesn't take close to a full minute for each page to load to be able to go into more detail.

How about a new thread per match? Say, Match Analysis: Sun vs Sara Valentine? Then, matches won't get lost in the shuffle so to speak, as we increase in pages. How's that sound?
